6
x 19 and 6 x 37 Wire Rope Classification
The 6 x 19
WIRE ROPE CLASSIFICATION includes wire ropes with 6 strands of having
wire combinations from 15 through 26 wires but not more than 12 outer
wires in each strand. These ropes are known as Standard Hoisting Ropes
and are made for a greater variety of uses than any other ropes.
The 6 x 37 WIRE
ROPE CLASSIFICATION includes ropes with 6 strands having wire combinations
from 27 to 49 inclusive wires per strand including filler wires.
These ropes are generally known as "Special Flexible Hoisting Rope."

|
7 x 7 (Flexible) small cord has seven strands of seven wires each.
Its greater number of wires which are smaller in size make it much
more flexible than 1 x 19, but not as flexible as 7 x 19. It has the
least metallic area and therefore is not as strong as 1 x 19 and 7
x 19.

Galvanized and Stainless
|
7 x 19 (Flexible) small cord has seven strands of 19 wires each. It
is stronger than the 7 x 7 construction and not as strong as the 1
x 19, but is the most flexible. Because of its fine wires, the best
service is obtained with 7 x 19 where abrasion is not too severe.
These fine wires make it the most flexible to withstand severe bending.

Plastic
Coated Wire Rope (Cable)
|
PLASTIC COATED WIRE ROPE is a PREformed Galvanized or Stainless Steel
Cable usually having a coating of polyvinychloride (PVC) or Nylon.
Other plastics such as polyurethane or polypropylene can be supplied
to meet special needs. Plastic coatings greatly increases the flexural
properties and fatigue life of the wire rope. CLEAR PVC COATED
CABLE.
 |
Nylon
Coated Wire Rope (Cable)
|
NYLON COATED WIRE ROPE is tougher, giving greater impact resistance.
It has more abrasive and cutting resistance than the PVC coated rope.
Nylon coated cable has a wider operating temperature range (higher
and lower) than any other plastic coated rope presently manufactured.
It is more suited to operating on drums, around pulleys, and thru
guides than the other plastics referred to above. However, it does
not have the high degree of resistance to abrasion and crushing as
does uncoated rope. CLEAR NYLON COATED CABLE.

X 19 Compacted (Die-Drawn Strand) Wire Rope Rotation Resistant
(Smaller diameters
can be made in 19 X 7 construction.)
Compacted rotation
resistant wire ropes (die drawn strand) are multi-layered constructions
which produce superior strengths while delivering greater fatigue
life and increased resistance to abrasion and drum crushing.
These ropes,
with their flattened outer wires have proven successful on every
type of equipment from long lifts to small hydraulic boom cranes.
These ropes
are the first choice for applications where rotation resistance
in single-part or multi-part lines is desired.
NOTE:
- AVOID USING
SWIVELS.
- STRENGTHS
LISTED APPLY ONLY IF BOTH ENDS ARE FIXED.
- STRENGTHS
WILL BE REDUCED IF ONE END IS FREE TO ROTATE.
THE HI-STRENGTH,
MULTI-PART, ROTATION RESISTANT ROPE.
An
extra tough rope with greater strength than 6 x 25 extra improved
plow steel and improved fatigue resistance.
The die drawn
outer strand surfaces reduce interstrand notching and the compacted
nature of the rope resists drum crushing.

Plastic
Filled Valleys reduce wire contact stress
PFV Wire Rope provides load transfer and sharing between wires
and strands unequaled by conventional wire rope. This promotes
continued flexibility, and reduces interstrand nicking.

these features that make PFV wire rope wear resistant
Plastic
Filled Valleys reduce internal corrosion
PFV Wire Rope's plastic impregnation acts as a shield to prevent
infiltration of solid abrasives, which could cause internal
deterioration.

Plastic
Filled Valleys keep lubrication inside wire rope
Macwhyte Plastic Filled Valley wire rope locks in lubrication
to insure greater flexibility, increased endurance, and improved
wire-rope life. |
Plastic
Filled Valleys provide greater wear area
Compared to ordinary wire rope. PFV Wire Rope assures smoother
wearing surfaces. Adapts to grooves and close tolerances. Minimizes
bend stress over sheaves. And increases fatigue life.
