How to Register Makita Tools for Warranty

Makita Tools | September 30, 2021

With nearly a century of experience in power tool manufacturing, Makita produces some of the most reliable and efficient tools on the market. From lightweight cordless drills to ergonomic corded saws, all Makita tools are designed to deliver optimal performance and comfort in any indoor or outdoor environment. Though every Makita tool is manufactured to provide lasting durability and quality, no piece of equipment is immune to defects or potential issues. That is why Makita provides a leading warranty for every power tool they manufacture. Unfortunately, this warranty does not mean anything unless your tools are registered. That is why the team at Western Equipment has provided some information on how to register your Makita tools for warranty.

Why should you choose Makita tools?

What Information is Need to Register Your Makita Tools?

To ensure that your Makita tools are covered by warranty, you will need to register them as soon as possible. Failure to activate your warranty can result in a lack of coverage in the event of defects or parts failure, leaving you with the repair/replacement costs. Registration can be performed online by filling out a product registration form. This form will require the following information to register your Makita tools:

  • Your full name.
  • Your address (street, city, and province).
  • Your postal code.
  • A valid email address to receive proof of registration.
  • The model number and the serial number of the tool(s). Multiple tools can be registered at the same time.
  • The date of purchase.
  • Where the product was purchased from.

Important Makita Terms and Limitations

All Makita lithium-ion products are covered by a three-year limited warranty while Makita gas-powered outdoor power equipment (OPE) is covered by a limited 2-year warranty. All other Makita power tools and accessories are covered by a one-year limited warranty. Should any problem develop during this warranty period, owners can return the complete product to one of Makita’s authorized service centres in Canada via prepaid freight. If a full inspection by a certified technician shows that the problem is caused by defective workmanship or materials, Makita may choose to repair or replace the product.

This manufacturer’s warranty does not apply if:

  • Repairs to the product have been made or attempted by others.
  • Repairs to the product are required because of normal wear and tear.
    • Regarding pneumatic nailers/staplers the following wear items will be covered under the Limited One Year General Warranty: piston/driver assemblies, piston cushions/stoppers, driver blades, rubber O-rings, seals, and air filters.
  • The product has been abused, misused, or improperly maintained.
  • Alterations have been made to the product.
  • A non-Makita brand battery has been used for a lithium-ion product.
